Human trafficking really does happen! It is happening right now and it is happening in your town. Big cities, small towns, it does not matter. Chances are, there are young children, men and women being bought and sold in your town right now. Every 10 seconds someone is bought and sold into slavery around the globe. Twenty seven million people are effected by human trafficking, with more than half of these being children under 18. Human trafficking has become the second fastest growing criminal enterprise (after drugs) with $32 billion dollars being moved – it is big business. Estimates show that by 2016, it is expected to surpass the drug trade as the #1 criminal enterprise around the globe.
The Rachel Project was founded to recover and restore trafficked and exploited people. By partnering with a growing abolitionist movement in our area and internationally, the Rachel Project is dedicated to a long term approach and plan to combat human trafficking in our communities and across the globe, through awareness, advocation and restoration.
